Susan Bonvin

 

 

introduction

 

Susan Bonvin was born in 1948 in London. She graduated in Fine Art, Painting, at Wimbledon (under Peter Kinley) and at Falmouth School of Art in 1969. In the 70's she was co-editor/contributor to the artists' magazine, Wallpaper.

Her latest exhibition ‘SINE' [the Room, London 2006] culminates an eighteen month period of studio production and promotion, funded by Arts Council England and the Swiss Cultural Fund in Britain. One person exhibitions include Apartement Boccon-Gibod, Brussels [2004] The Building Centre, London [2001] New Hall, Cambridge [2001] Howard Gardens Gallery, Cardiff [1990] and ‘Colour in Context', Serpentine Gallery, London [1989]. In 2000, she was commissioned by “Year of the Artist” to construct a large scale mural in relief for the public stairwell at the Pen Green Centre in Corby.

Group exhibitions include Fermynwoods Contemporary Art, Brigstock [2002 and 2000] Swiss Artists in the UK, Swiss Embassy, London [2000] touring from the October Gallery and Economist Gallery, London [1998] and Point, Line Plain, Francis Graham Dixon Gallery, London [1998].

Catalogue introductions and press reviews of her work have been written by Mary Rose Beaumont, Isabelle Boccon-Gibod, Richard Coles [Radio Three, Night Waves] Francis Graham-Dixon, Tim Hilton, Anthony Howell and Alister Warman [Serpentine Gallery]. Her work is held in collections in England and abroad, including Galerie Hoffman, Germany, Arts Council Collection, England and New Hall Women's Art Collection, Cambridge.
