Two panel painting in pigmented epoxy resin.
This work is entirely made from pigmented resin, and has not been adjusted with paint or any other application after it has been cast. As such, it is really closer to a large scale print than a painting. It was cast in four stages. The first stages were small applications of blue and green pigmented resins. Over this, we applied a layer of clear resin and finally two reinforcement strips, visible as dark shadows.
The image was made by applying a random geometry to a landscape drawing. The references are to a suburban landscape, as seen through an imaginary designer’s planning grid. Silhouettes of houses and areas of shrubbery are reflected, possibly in a lake, or wet road. Other references may be to the desert, where the shadows of pyramids and banks of sand appear miraged below.
