Susan Bonvin studied at Falmouth College of Art and Andrew Eden studied at Wimbledon School of Art. In 2007 they merged their artistic identities after nearly thirty years of following individual careers. The first time they exhibited collaborative works was in November 2008 when Gill Hedley and Simon Wallis selected paintings and drawings for Kettle’s Yard biannual ‘Open’ exhibition in Cambridge. In 2009 they curated an exhibition for Fermynwoods Contemporary Art [Northamptonshire] titled ‘Double Signature’, where their own paintings were shown alongside new work produced by three other collaborative practices: Boyd and Evans, He He [Helen Evans & Heiko Hansen] and Bryan and Laura Davies. The theme of the exhibition was artistic collaboration. In 2010 they were commissioned to produce art works as “self improvement devices” for the Schumann bicentenary exhibition at the Kunstsammlungen Zwickau, Germany. Major exhibitions prior to 2007 include the Serpentine, London [SB ‘Colour in Context’ 1988] and at Galerie Salle Allende, Universite Libre de Bruxelles [AE 2004]. From 1973 to1979 they both worked with a group of artists in London and New York to edit and produce the arts magazine “Wallpaper”, which received critical acclaim from both sides of the Atlantic. More recently, they collaborated in the ‘Art for Circulation Spaces’ project and exhibitions at the Building Centre in London in 2001. This was followed by a series of joint video pieces [e.g. ‘Driving at Home’ shown at Nottingham Playhouse in 2004] and by co-operating to produce publications and events for Architecture Week 2004 and 2005.
